HVAC Checklist for the New Year Econo Air Is Here For You
|

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, our HVAC professionals at Econo Air in Brea suggest that our customers resolve to check their HVAC systems twice a year, once at the start of the heating season and again at the start of the cooling season. This greatly cuts down on the risk of the system breaking down when it is needed the most. After all, Brea can get hot in the summer, and a cold snap during the winter isn’t unheard of. We want our customers’ systems to be ready for any weather event.

Checklist for Air Conditioning

Our professionals at Econo Air believe the best time to check your air conditioning system is in the spring, one to two months ahead of the time when the A/C will be needed. For central air conditioners we:

  • Remove debris from around the outdoor condenser
  • Clean the inside of the condenser unit
  • Clean the cooling coils
  • Adjust the thermostat
  • Wipe down the system with a microfiber cloth

For a room unit, we will clean the filter, or replace it, and for ductless mini-splits, we will clean the filters, drain pipes, and coils.

Checklist for the Heating System

Even if our customers aren’t expecting things to get really cold in the winter, it is simply a good idea to check the heating system, preferably in the fall. The maintenance for heating systems is a little different depending on what type of system it is. For furnaces we:

  • Check the flue and remove any obstructions
  • Check the heat exchanger
  • Check the thermostat
  • Check the combustion chamber
  • Check belts and motors

For boilers we will:

  • Drain and refill the boiler
  • Check the pressure valve
  • Check the expansion tank
  • Clean the heat exchanger

Our professionals will adjust the thermostat for you in both boilers and furnaces.
