Understanding EV Charging Terminology
There are certain terms that are used when talking about EV charging stations. Here are the most common terms and their definitions.
EV Charging Station Components
- Inlet: The inlet is the part of the EV charging station that plugs into a wall outlet. It is usually located on the front of the charging station.
- Housing: The housing is the part of the EV charging station that protects the other components. It is usually made of plastic or metal.
- Outlet: The outlet is the part of the EV charging station that plugs into the EV. It is usually located on the back of the charging station.
- EVSE: The acronym EVSE stands for electric vehicle supply equipment. It is the entire charging station.
- Plug: The plug is the part of the EV charging station that plugs into the EV.
- Station cable: The station cable is the part of the EV charging station that connects the EV to the charging station.
How Often Should EV Charging Stations Be Serviced?
It is recommended that EV charging stations be serviced once a year. However, if you use your station frequently, you may want to schedule servicing more often. For example, if you use your charging station to commute to work, you may want to have it checked twice a year. If your EV charging station is not working properly, you will not be able to use it to charge your car. If your station stops working completely, you will not be able to charge your car at all.
EconoAir can inspect your EV charging station and make any necessary repairs. We can also clean the charging station and check the connections to make sure they are secure. If we find that a part needs to be replaced, we will let you know the cost of the part and the cost of installing it. You can choose to have the part replaced or not. If you decide to have the part replaced, we will install it and check the rest of the charging station to make sure it is working properly. If you decide not to have the part replaced, we can clean the charging station and check the connections to make sure they are secure. If you want to have the charging station inspected, we can perform an inspection and let you know if any parts need to be replaced.
